Cannetille wire

Cannetille wire (bullion wire/purl wire) is used for goldwork embroidery. This kind of spiral-spun wire is hollow to allow needle and thread to pass through. Modern goldwork wire comes in many colors. Stiff cannetille is used for outlining while soft cannetille is often cut into small pieces and used like beads in embroideries.
